How to prepate for the hike?

🩳 Thermal base layer (wool or synthetic).
🧥 Wool or synthetic sweater.
🧢 Windproof and waterproof jacket (e.g., Gore-Tex).
👖 Warm pants (preferably waterproof).
🥾 Comfortable winter hiking boots with good grip (preferably mountain/hiking type).
🧦 Warm socks (preferably wool).
🧤 Gloves (1 pair of thin gloves + warm waterproof gloves).
🧣 Hat + warm neck warmer/buff.

Up to 20 km (short distance)
Backpack

💧 Water bottle or thermos (0.5–1 L). Warm water is recommended for winter hikes.
🍫 Snacks (bars, nuts, chocolate).
🇱🇹 A flag (optional if you feel like it!)

Clothing

Warm, comfortable, and breathable layers:

🧦 Spare pair of socks (in case they get wet).
🧥 Thicker jacket or extra fleece layer.
🔦 Torchlight.

20 to 50 km (medium distance)
Backpack

☕ Thermos with a hot drink (1 L).
🍱 Additional food (e.g., sandwiches, cookies, cheese, dried meat).
🩹 Band-aids.
🪑 Lightweight mat for sitting on snow.
🧻 Tissue

Additional clothing

These can be left in the volunteer car at the beginning of the hike and transported to resting points.
🛏️ Lightweight blanket or aluminum foil survival blanket.
🥗 Food, snacks, and water needed after 45 km and 80 km.

50 to 107 km (long distance)

💧 Hydration system (water bladder with a straw, plus an additional 1 L bottle).
🥜 High-calorie snacks (e.g., nut mix, dried fruits, energy gels).
⚡ Electrolytes.
🔥 Several disposable heat packs for shoes and gloves.
🩹 Elastic bandage.
🔋 Power bank.
